Lucas Dupuy Turns His Debut Album Into a Collectible Design Object
London-based artist Lucas Dupuy transforms his debut album As in Leaves into a collectible design object, with each CD featuring unique artwork made from experimental prints.
Working across painting, music and publishing, Lucas Dupuy has developed a visual language shaped by blurred imagery, natural landscapes and the textures of analogue processes. His work often exists somewhere between the physical and the digital, exploring how fleeting moments, memories and sounds can be translated into images.

His debut album, As in Leaves, released in May 2026, extends that approach into music. Developed from recordings made over five or six years, the project brings together ambient compositions, samples and field recordings, reflecting the same quiet, dreamlike atmosphere found in his paintings.
Now, Dupuy has introduced a special jewel case CD edition that makes the connection between his visual and musical practices even more tangible.
Each copy features a one-of-one inner sleeve and back cover, printed in CMYK with iridescent white ink on 110gsm Transclear paper. The packaging was assembled using test prints from a publication released earlier in the year, giving previously produced material a new purpose.
The result is a series of individual objects, each carrying its own variation of the album's visual identity.

In an interview with Electronic Beats, Dupuy discussed his fascination with physical processes, from repeatedly photocopying drawings to scanning and layering printed materials. Even when working digitally, he often returns to analogue techniques, allowing textures and imperfections to become part of the final image.
That philosophy feels particularly present in this edition of As in Leaves. Rather than producing identical artwork for every copy, Dupuy allows the printing process and its variations to shape the finished object.

Mastered by Pavel Milyakov, also known as Buttechno, and published by Acoustic Images, As in Leaves brings together several years of sonic experimentation. Its physical edition gives those recordings another dimension, one that can be held, examined and collected.
At a time when music is increasingly experienced through screens, Dupuy's approach offers a reminder of what physical formats can still bring to an album: not just a way to listen, but another way to experience the artist's work.
